Causes of Fading & How Solar Tint Reduces It

Solar control films help reduce fading. But what are the causes of fading and how does solar film help? Fading is caused by 4 main factors
  • Ultraviolet Light (40%)
  • Visible Light (25%)
  • Solar Heat (25%)
  • Misc. (10%)
The other "Misc." causes of fading include
  • Indoor artificial lighting
  • Chemical vapors in the air
  • Humidity and moisture
  • Poor dye quality of materials
Solar Control Films, your tint supplier and distributor has a full supply of solar tint, commercial tint and residential tint that eliminate virtually all ultraviolet radiation (UV), the leading cause of fading.
As per the IWFA's Advanced Solar Control Guide, the US National Bureau of Standards (NBS) in the 1950's studied the relationship between fading and the wavelength of ultraviolet radiation. The study concluded that blocking ultraviolet radiation (UV) would slow down the rate of fading by a factor of three in most fabrics. For example, a fabric that would fade a certain amount in three years during normal solar exposure could take as long as 10 years to fade to the same amount if ultraviolet (UV) radiation is eliminated.
No solar film or glazing product will totally eliminate fading, but commercial tint, residential tint, spectrally select films and solar tint provided by Solar Control Films will reduce fading substantially to your interior furnishings such as wood floors, carpet, drapes, furniture and artwork.
Other great benefits of solar tint from you tint supplier & distributor include:
  • Stops radiant heat
  • Saves money on energy bills
  • Reduces the load on your air conditioning system
  • Improves your comfort
  • Reduces hot spots
  • Reduces glare
